A tad overpriced, but worth it
First off, my friends know me as the "Crazy Fan Lady". I need to sleep with a fan and have a very narrow threshold of temperatures I can deal with. Living in Seattle, we have no air-conditioning and considering that we live in a townhouse, the upstairs gets extremely warm as the internal air-circulation is really poor. I have tried all kinds and all brands of fans and currently own three Vornados (including the 660) and the Lasko 20" Cyclone Fan. I've had fans cheap and expensive, box fans, table fans, pedestal fans and clip-on fans. The problem with most fans I've come across is two-fold: (a) They're usually pretty damn loud (b) They don't move enough air if it's not pointed directly at you.

While I love the Vornado 660, I don't think it's quiet powerful enough for a 15 x 15 living room. Also, I need to put it on a stool so that it sits by the sliding door and pulls air in. I wanted a stand-alone pedestal fan that looked nice, wasn't loud (I mean, who can play video games...

Luv This Fan
Just received and assembled this fan today. Although I've only had the fan for a few hours I am extremely happy with it. I've been searching for the past two summers for a fan with some style, decorative I guess you can say.

I didn't want the typical white plastic oscillating fan(from a local hardware store), nor did I want a industrial style fan(hunter gunmetal fan). And just as importantly, I wanted a quite fan. So far so good. This fan meets all my needs. It was very easy to assemble. It took 15 min and all I needed was a phillips screwdriver.

Here are a few tips to help you with your decision to purchase this fan.

Some of the parts are plastic,(but not cheap tacky plastic). The blades are plastic, which you can see from the picture. Gorgeous, powerful, quiet, durable
I bought the Rowenta desk fan for my bedroom and liked it so much that I went for this one for my living room.

This floor fan is really neat, even better than the desk one as it comes with a remote control. And the looks are really great! Some reviewers complain that the head is shaky, this is absolutely not the case with mine, it is very stable, I just made sure it was well secured on the pole... Definitely better and more stable than any under $100 I've had before.

I also own a Vornado 660 Whole Room Air Circulator, 4 Speeds in another room, I can tell that the Rowenta is more powerful and quieter. It does take more space but it looks so nice in my living room, I actually love it!

GE WB48K5019 Lower Oven Rack for Oven

It's just right!
I needed an extra oven rack. Tried Home Depot and Lowe's to no avail. My philosophy is, "If Amazon doesn't have it, I don't need it." Of course Amazon had a lot to choose from, and unfortunately, none of them came with measurements, and my stove is so old it doesn't have a model number. I read a review on one of the other racks which said to count the grids on your present rack and match that number to one that has the same number of grids. Voila! It arrived, it fit perfectly! So, if you're looking for an oven rack, the method of counting the grids should work for you too. Thanks, Amazon!

I needed this!
I had left the old ones in the oven during cleaning (don't!) and they'd lost all surface slid ability. These fit my 12 yr old Kenmore stove perfectly.

Good product, great price
I work in a Residence Hall at a large university and we purchased this for use at our programs and events. We've had the machine for almost a year now with no problems. Its fairly easy to put together and works great. Its very cute and adds a nice touch to any event. We purchased the one on the trolley and also a tabletop version. The trolley is great for portability and you can store things in the compartment underneath. Its also handy to have the little shelf to put salt shakers, bags, etc. The machine came with the scooper, measuring spoons, salt shaker, etc. Works great with the prepackaged all-in-one popcorn packs designed for these machines.

Exceeded expectations
We love this popcorn popper! What a great Christmas present. It far exceeded our expectations. It has a warmer, light and stirrer. The capacity is great (8 qt), and it makes a cup of unpopped popcorn at a time (enough for a family of four). It's easy to clean and looks great. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, well designed. Bigger than some that are out there. Only complaint is that poor shipping quality. Box was beat up so badly. Machine had major dents on the top metal piece. Don't recommend as a gift if the person who you are giving it to lives in your house as it says EXACTLY what it is on the outside of the box. Makes good popcorn though.

Great Deep Fryer
First off, this is my first deep fryer so I can not compare this to others which Im sure are very good as well.

I recived this Hamilton Beach deep fryer as a gift being I have been getting intrested in fried foods at home.

I really enjoy this fryer alot. It is built very well. Very easy to operate too. It heats up nicely and even has a timer.

Just a note, the timer dosn't turn off the fryer when done, which isn't a problem with me at all. The only thing I see is that the battery for the timer appears to be incased and cant replace if it goes out, but it really seems to be working perfectly.

This fryer is not only easy to set up and use, but cleaning was a major concern to me before getting any fryer. This thing is very easy to disassemble and clean.

Nice deep basket. I had alittle problem with my beer battered fish and chicken sticking to the bottom of the basket after I pulled a batch, but this has nothing to do with the fryer,...

An Entry Level Fryer
I purchased this fryer, never having used one prior, because of its 12-cup capacity and for how easy to use it was made to seem. It has the timer, viewing window, claimed to be very simple to clean. While these claims aren't exactly untrue, with the money you're spending, these features are pretty standard. There are cheaper fryers that function more like deep buckets to put oil in but this is certainly several steps up from that. Though, the truth is that its just a basic fryer. Clean up (as you might imagine) is a bit of a pain if you're using this on a semi-regular basis. And, frankly, you NEED to use it on a pretty regular basis in order to get your money's worth. The 96 oz. of oil needed to get this thing going makes it an expensive novelty if only for occasional use. I was very impressed with the speed that the item came. Our other one somehow melted when it came off. I was so glad when I found the right part for our dishwasher. Fit perfectly. Very happy.

Good replacement
Melted the last one. It is mostly plastic except at the ends where there are metal plates; While cleaning the dishwasher; I didn't snap the sprayer back in place and the sprayer's plastic arms melted on the heating element. The replacement I received was a perfect replacement. I didn't know the part number; I took a chance that the picture was an accurate representation.

After three months still going strong
I am very happy we purchased this replacement arm for our dishwasher. Our old one jumped the track and got scorched during a dry cycle. This arm connected right in and have had no problems. Excellent quality and a great price!

LG Electronics MCK49049101 Dryer Lint Filter Cover

Replaces factory OEM lint filter pieces
Our lint filter would not seat correctly and needed to replace it because it was tearing up clothes.
DO NOT just replace one piece - get all three pieces for a proper fit. Most likely the pieces in the dryer have become deformed due to improper seating and heat.
Small price to pay for the three pieces compared to damaging hundreds of dollars worth of clothing!

The pieces needed are:

I'm not sure how much can be said about a dryer lint cover other than it was the part we needed (the original was warped and broken due to a loose screw and our warranty had expired by the time it became an issue). Quality is on par with the original and it fit perfectly.

3M Filtrete Bissell 8 & 14 Vacuum Filter, 1 Pack

Fits perfectly, works as expected
I really don't know what you can say about a vacuum filter set, but I can at least let everyone know what it goes with. I have an Bissell Pet Eraser vacuum, and these filters fit perfectly. It is pretty amazing how dirty the filters can get; I actually am not even sure I knew that the Bissell Pet Eraser vacuum had these 2 filters at first. Initially, I was just cleaning out the big canister thingy and the piece inside which collected all the dust/hair. However, one day I realized there were these other filters on the vacuum (I never read the manual obviously), and they were filthy. For anyone unaware, one filter is located on the side and one is located directly below the main canister bin. I change mine about once every 6 months (along with the giant rubber band belts that go up under the vacuum, which break often apparently - but good thing is they are cheap and easy to replace). Great filter, here's what's in the package
If you're wondering as I was about what is in this package, mine just came and here goes. Go by what is pictured, you get the sponge AND the filter in this package, not just the filter. The wording in this advertisement isn't very clear so I just took a chance and ordered it to see if I received what is pictured. You do - and the sponge is in the same package.

The filter itself is just great, even better than the one my Pet Hair Eraser came with, in my opinion. And I'm very thrilled to have a second sponge backup - seems like every time I decide to wash mine, I need the vacuum before it is dry. Great, great product - glad to have found this! Waring Commercial WPG150 Compact Italian-Style Panini Grill, 120-volt

Solid as a Rock
This panini maker is awesome. Weighs a ton but that is because you get two solid cast iron grills top and bottom. This is heavy duty stuff. However, it does not take up more space than a regular grill because it is taller, not necessarily wider. After reading the reviews about snap on grills of others and losing heat top/bottom, there was no way I was going to chince on a non-commercial grill. This is the only way to go.

A little small
Tis unit works great only thing is the size is a little smaller than quoted on site. But it will hold 3 wraps or 3 paninis. Used in a very busy deli and it does the trick.

My FAVORITE popper
I love this popcorn popper. My husband won it during a greedy grab a few Christmas's ago. Once i figured out my ratio of oil to popcorn, I fell in love!! Best dishwasher EVER!
This is the quietest dishwasher I have ever owned. It has a little red light that shines on the floor to let you know it's running, which is needed because otherwise you might not even hear it and know its on. The dishes come out spotless and it has so much room that I almost run out of dishes before it's even 3/4 full. The top rack for knives and other small items is great also. I have never enjoyed washing a load of dishes this much in my life. I have an open kitchen that faces into my great room and doing dishes was always a problem due to the noise, which interfered with the TV, so I always had to do dishes at night.. No more. I can do dishes anytime and no one even knows the unit is running. I cannot say enough good things about this dishwasher, it is so great. I've had it over 2 months now and still love everything about it. I am so glad I purchased this and would highly recommend it to anyone considering buying a dishwasher. Excellent Dishwasher
We've had our new dishwasher for about a month, and the verdict is in. The dishwasher is FANTASTIC. And yes, it's so quiet that you can't tell it's running, hence the light that shines on the floor when it is running. We've actually stood next to it with our ear to the door to see if it really was running. It's LARGE, it fits many more items than our old DW. The 3rd rack for silverware and other small items allows much more room on the bottom shelf. The top shelf is optimized and has little ridges so tall glasses don't fall down in the row. And it cleans very well, spotless shiny dishes. It's optimzed for tablets and comes with a box of Finish, which I really like and may switch to permanently. If you are in the market for a new DW, definitely look at this model or anyone that has a 3rd rack.

Mr. Coffee, Bodum and the Aerolatte.
The Mr. Coffee Milk Frother, BODUM Schiuma Milk Whip and Aerolatte Milk Frother appear to be the 3 most popular milk frothers in the under $20 range. I've had all three and currently have two remaining. The Bodum died after 2 months. All run on 2 AA batteries. Regardless of which one you decide, don't set your expectations too high as all three have drawbacks.

I was quite pleased with the Bodum Schiuma. As far as torque, the Bodum appears to be the best of the three. I was able to whip up a good amount of froth when mixing up to 10-oz of milk. So if cappuccinos are your thing, then the Bodum is a strong contender. Although inconveniently placed on the top, the Bodum has a real on/off switch. Inconvenient meaning it's slightly tough to get to turn off...

Inexpensive way to whip milk
I was concerned that the Bodum Whip was cheaply made and would use up a lot of batteries. I was wrong on both accounts - I have been using it for the past three years, and changed the batteries only one time. I found it to be extremely durable and easy to clean. It makes great tasting, coffee house - style coffee drinks.

I'm really impressed
I'd read about frothers running out the batteries too soon or not having enough power to forth well. This inexpensive little frother has been one of my favorite purchases of the past year.

I heat a few ounces of milk in a tall glass, then use the frother to whip it up. It makes a thicker, denser foam than the steamers at the cafes--yummm. I spoon that over a very strong french roast and add a little ground connamon on top....no more spending $3.50 for a latte. It costs me about 40 cents to make my own, and I use both organic coffee and organic milk, so a better product for a lot less money.

I've used it plenty of times and am still on those first batteries with no loss of frothing power. Though even if I had to spend 50 cents every couple of months for batteries, this would still be a tremendous convenience and bargain. Can't imagine why people would get anything more expensive.

Roomba iRobot 500/600/700 series front wheel / caster assembly

The weakest link
Easily the single biggest point of failure, especially for pet owners. Pet hair wraps around the axle, deforming the caster assembly sockets that hold the axle, which causes the wheel assembly to fall out. Every time Roomba transitions from floor to area rug, Roomba halts with an error (and the wheel assembly becomes a cat toy).

Even though this is the same caster assembly that ships with the Roomba models recommended by iRobot for "Pet hair removal," it is the one component that consistently fails because of that task. With two dogs and a cat, a caster assembly will fail about every 90 days. The only way to repair the caster it is to replace it at $6 a pop. (When they're in stock. Which is very rarely. You can occasionally find them at other retailers--for $10 to $20 each). It's also interesting to note that iRobot limits your order quantity to five--even more evidence that this part fails at an unacceptably high rate.

Aerus Guardian Air Replacement Filter Brand New

Not like the original equipment
I have the same issue as CB's Oct 11, 2012 review. Whether this is a "new, improved" (cheaper) product from Aerus, a manufacturing defect, or an imitation knock-off, I don't know. But the touted TiO2 treatment is clearly compromised. The "spattering of white stuff" cannot be equivalent to the original, uniform coating. (Yes, the product pictured is the original.) Next time I will pay the extra and get authentic replacement filter from the dealer.

poor quality, defective
I should've returned the filter! It is not at all what my other filters have been in past. There was a white substance splattered all over the carbon side of filter. I decided to use it anyway, but really should've sent it back. The picture shows the filter as it should be, but mine was solid black, with some sort of white substance splattered on one side.

The filter I ordered on Amazon.com came within just a few days, was the correct filter and fits our air purifier. No complaints.

This is *not* a super-expensive cheap-junk knock off made in some communist third world country ....it's a high quality, reasonably priced replacement part made right here in the US of A.

WINCO Sharpening Steel, 12-Inch

Just as described, 12" blade
I saw another review saying that this had an 8" blade with 12" total length, which would have been fine with me, but the product I received has 12" blade with 5.5" handle, which is how it was described on the product page. I'm guessing the other reviewer got a wrong product by error. In any case, this is a decent product for the price. The handle is plastic, but feels pretty solid. It works well on my knives.

For a sharper smoother edge.
It was based on the rating of someone else on Amazon that I chose this particular tool. My father always said that sharp knives are as important to a cook, or chef, as wrenches are to a mechanic. And he knows what he's talking about. He happens to be both. And I have tried other ways to sharpen a knife but never liked the long term effect that they had in wearing down the blade. Making them look quite ugly. A friend of mine has a restaurant and he prefers a sharpening steel just like this and he has shown me the difference. But he is professional and I am domestic. And so I have to go the economic route.
Let me just say that there is absolutely no difference between this and the more expensive ones. (Except bragging rights.) Immediately upon receiving my package I opened it, got all my knives out, and made like the professionals! I am happy with the results.

Excellent heater
This heater is quiet and performs as advertised. Remote function is a bit of a challenge for the non-electronically minded, but overall, I would highly recommend it.

Stylish Quartz Infrared Room Heater.
We have this heater installed in a 14 x 16 sun/family room with cathedral ceiling that connects openly to the adjacent kitchen. It's a very nice room setup with one caveat, the sun/family room has an atrium door with side lights that opens onto our side deck....and the DOGS, oh my gosh, in and out All Day. The manufacturers instructions specifically state that you should Not place the heater by an exterior door but I find it works Very well behind the couch, between the couch and the exterior door. We don't have a cold chill running across the floor anymore and when the sun starts to go down and the room begins to cool off, the heater cranks up like it was made for the room. Why we waited 14 years to put a heater in this area is beyond me.

I bought this tool as a gift for my woodworking boyfriend. He has made some wonderful things over the years and I wanted them to have his name on them! The service was great. The website didn't explain very well about how I would get the branding iron to say what I wanted (I thought they would e-mail me) but when the iron arrived the instructions were very clear. They stated it would take two weeks for the name plate to arrive and it came in less time. (could be because it wasn't a busy gift giving season). This is an excellant product.
It gets very hot , so be careful not to hold it on wood too long.
I have two heads, one is longer than the other . The shorter one does a better job,I think because the long one gets hotter in the middle than it does toward the outside.
The head screws off so they are interchangable.
Soft wood burns quicker than hardwoods . Takes a little practice , but very nice product.

Everything is OK with the woodburner but the ends of the flat brass are too long; it would be nicer if these were cut off close to the words; it would be easier to see under the head when using it.

A waste of money
Once upon a time all garbage disposals were made to last at least 10 years...but not any more. In 2008 I replaced my 20 year old unit with an Insinkerator "Badger" that barely made it 4 years before the galvanized steel shredder ring wore out. In March of 2012 I replaced that one with this KitchenAid...the shredder ring--also galvanized, not stainless--in it is already gone...it can still handle soft food, but just beats an orange or lemon peel to death till I finally tired of the noise and remove it to toss in the garbage can. Kitchenaid's idea of support was to remind me that this model only has a one year warranty and offer to discount a $110 part 10%...the whole disposal doesn't cost that much! So after only 18 months (and I thought the "Badger" that lasted "only" 4 years was a piece of junk!) I found myself shopping for a new disposal again... But this time I did a little homework before I ordered one!

Sharp KC-860U Plasmacluster air purifier

Excellent
I bought this to deal with cat litter dust in a small apartment. I was hesitant to purchase this due to the high price and bad past experiences with other air cleaner products (noisy, poor quality) years ago, but have had good experiences with Sharp plasmacluster technology built-in to late-model Toyota/Lexus vehicles, so I decided to take a chance. The unit is very stylish (more-so than the pictures would indicate) and seems well constructed. It's assembled in China by Sharp.

The fan is very quiet on the lowest setting, which was important to me as the unit will run continuously. The electronic dust sensor is phenomenal. It really does detect dust in the air that's too small to see. I have the machine 6 feet from my cat's litter box, and within a minute of my cleaning the cat's mess from the litter box, the Sharp's sensor display changes from green to orange and then red, and the fan kicks into high gear. After a few minutes of cleaning the air, the display returns...

Next Generation PIC Technology
Offhand, I own two FP-P40CX, one KC-150U and two KC-860 units. Suffice to say that I am a fan of Plasmacluster (PIC) technology. While a Blueair MD Pro sits by one side of the bed, a KC-860 sits by the other. An IQAir HealthPro Plus is situated in the family room with a second KC-860 not far away. Lose one point for not retaining the timer and remote control found in previous generation FP models. As of February 2011, the KC-860 is the most powerful stand-alone PIC, room purification unit available to the general public as a consumer purchase. Despite its rather flimsy carbon filter and tested in various bathrooms and a kitchen, the KC-860 does an excellent job of controlling odors so long as the Plasmacluster feature is used. Pre-filter is built into the unit housing (ala Austin Air) for ease of maintenance. KC-860 uses the same exact filters as do KC-100U/KC-150U/KC-850U for ease of filter sourcing. Efficient, but expensive and not so easy to maintain
Good things: I had this for a year. It was better than FU-A28U that I'm using now. Comparing to FU, the KC sucks and blows much more air but similarly loud, and has an extra washable filter. The FC was able to "clean" my bedroom in hours after I got out from smoking in the bathroom, but the FU struggles a whole day. The sensor is really sensitive and useful for the lazy people.

Not-so-good things: For the price I could have 4 FUs instead of this single unit. Secondly, the water reservoir tend to attract insects. Therefore, if humidifier is used, one will have to clean the unit and replace the water every few days. And then the sensor unit is hard to clean. it's got small holes nearby that trap dust that'll affect the sensor.

Z Line ZLKBWEXT 1-Piece Extension for KB/KL2 Model Range Hood

nice hood for the money
Installed easily, iooks nice, and the vacuum is really good on high, compared to what we had.
Only two things on the down side. 1) Anything more than 8' ceilings, you should get the extension + $100 or so
2) On the control panel, the fan speed for #1 button is faster than #2 button. I'm thinking they may have been wired backwards. Other than that, it's a good looking and working hood.

To Expensive
The stack was needed because the company only furnishes 2 short pieces that need to interlock and thus reduces the overall length. Since I had a 9' ceiling height, I had to buy this 36" extension for 35% of the cost of their hood.

Great Northern Popcorn Red Roosevelt 8 Ounce Antique Popcorn Machine and Cart

Best maker and the best price by far!
I did a lot of research on these before deciding on this fantastic machine. Trust me, you can look a long time and not find anything close to this value at this price point or even one much, much higher. Highly recommend for that finishing touch on your home theater.

Pros:
- 3 switches for power (1 kettle stirrer, 1 heating lamp/under carriage heating element and 1 for kettle heat). This will add a lot of life to your machine!
- Large 8 ounce kettle pops plenty of corn for a family of 4 or use a smaller portion (or portion pack) for movie night with your spouse.
- EASY assembly and very mobile. Essentially it comes in 4 pieces, the main unit, the cart and a couple of tires. It took longer to get rid of the boxes than to assemble it. We have actually wheeled this out in front of the house so my son can sell popcorn and lemonade, its that mobile.
- Storage cabinet holds a lot of supplies

Very good popper
This is a very good popcorn popper. I searched for a long time to get the right mix of ingredients to create "Theatre Tasting" popcorn. Here is what I found. I used ingredients from Grand Rapids Popcorn Company. They are local for me and they supply a lot of theaters. Here is the recipe they gave me and it is great.
Use Popcorn oil. They have peanut and sunflower oils of which I couldn't tell a difference in taste and much healthier than coconut oil. I also use their Flavorcal salt. When you follow the recipe and method, it works out great. 1) Use 1/3 cup Oil. 2) 1 Cup Popcorn 3) 1 tsp Flavorcal. They call for 1 1/2 tsp (I use a little bit less because I find it can become too salty-you can adjust to your taste). Now, ignore the instructions on the pamphlet with the popper. It says to only use 1 Tbs of oil. This won't work. They also say to pour the oil in and let it heat up for 2-3 minutes. Not! The oil begins to burn and you can taste it in the finished...

Great machine, great popcorn!
We purchased this as a family Christmas present this year. While we have only had it a few weeks, because we have 7 children ranging in age from 18 to 1, we have consumed quite a bit of popcorn in that time. I can tell you the ease of use on this machine is excellent. In 5 minutes, my children can make a large batch of outstanding popcorn. It gets used at least twice a day, is very durable and easy to clean, and works flawlessly. I will post another review after we have had it for a year, but as of right now, it is well worth the investment and enjoyed even more than I had imagined.

I will also say that we purchased our machine through Amazon from Unbeatable Sales, Inc. On Christmas Eve, when we went to assemble the machine, we realized the wheel axel to the cart was missing. ExcelSteel Stainless Steel Push Down Mixer, 13-Inch

Pretty Nifty
I bought this because I had seen something similar at the California Mid-State Fair in 2011, and had wanted one ever since. I use it to mix SlimFast powder with milk, and it's a lot more efficient than stirring with a spoon. I did knock off one star because you can't use this with any cup. It's best to use a flat-bottomed cup, and make sure that it's wide enough. Also, I prefer to use a plastic cup so that I don't have to worry about it breaking. I don't think a glass cup actually would, but I'm just weird like that.

Easy to use, fun mixer without the fuss of pulling out the electric hand mixer. Great for small jobs, like scrambled eggs, etc. Makes a great gift!

I had many of these whisks to choose from and I think I chose the worst! It is too stiff and really doesn't do the job. My friend has the miracle whisk and it works so smoothly and without any effort. This one is not good!

InSinkErator Evolution Cover Control 3/4 HP Household Garbage Disposer

Expensive, but still a good value
Our previous 3/4 hp In-Sink-Erator finally wore out after 20 years of service. We loved the cover-control on the old model, and I was shocked to find that it's such a rare feature. This high-end unit had it, and I wouldn't have been nearly as happy with wall-switch versions, which we've had in the past. The cover control means you never have to worry about you (or a guest) turning on the disposer when intending to turn on a light. No worries about using an electrical switch with wet hands. Kids are less likely to overload the unit by force-feeding, because the cover is in place when the unit is turned on.

I had never installed a sink disposer before, but I had installed our dishwasher and done similar tasks around the house. Instructions were clear, and I did the whole thing in a couple of hours replacing everything including the drain flange (included with the disposer).

Buyer Beware if Your Sink is Cast Iron
I've had insinkerators in my last two homes. Very convenient. When mine broke down, I went with the new model which has a magnetic on/off switch. Seemed very advanced. Also great price on Amazon. Warranteed for 7 years in home. HOWEVER, after it was installed by the plumber, you couldn't get the thing to turn off. Called for service. They agreed to come but said if it isn't the device, they would charge $250 for a service call (as much as I paid for the insinkerator). Called back the plumber. He called service. Apparently, because my white sink is cast iron, it needs a different part to fit in the drain. Service knew the part number without looking it up. The part, which is an inch or so longer than the one that comes with the insinkerator, cost $75! That's one third the price of the whole shebang. Unfortunately I was too far down the road to turn back. Given the additional expense, the fancy magnetic switch and whisper quiet operation have lost some of their luster. At...

Expensive But Worth It
I'm impressed at the obvious build quality of the cover control model. It replaced an 18 year old Insinkerator cover control model that suddenly wouldn't turn off and became a shock hazard. This Evolution model snapped right into the old mount (real time-saver) and took about 2 hours to complete including minor plumbing changes. This is my 5th disposal install over the years and was the simplest. It's expensive, but cheaper at Amazon.com than some other online retailers I looked at.

I bought this light kit to add to an older Westinghouse antique brass ceiling fan that was here when we moved in 3 years ago. It always bothered us not to have a light in that room other than our lamps. This kit Westinghouse Lighting 7783200 Schoolhouse Glass Indoor/Outdoor 4-Inch Fitter Ceiling Fan Light Kit, Antique Brass Finish with White Glass Shade worked perfectly! It installed to the older fan as easy as could be. Turn off power. Remove the plug from the old bottom cap, thread the two wires and screw the light kit onto the cap and secure with provided lock washer and nut. Hook up the two wires white-white, blue-black. Put the cap back on the fan. Install the provided cfl light bulb and the glass cover. Done. Took all of about 10 minutes. Now we have light where it should be in the room. Couldn't be happier :)

LDR 504 1150 Washing Machine Corrugated Drain Hose, 6-Foot

excellent-fits most brands of washing machines (Not all)
I bought 10 of these and was pleased with them, as I repair appliances and use quite a few, this fits Maytag top loaders and almost all Whirlpool top loaders and front loaders that attach at the back of the washer. This will not fit a Frigidaire or GE top loader. Be sure after you put this on your washer and you shove this in the drain that you use a wire tie made of plastic to wrap around the drain hose and maybe one of the water fill hoses, so as to prevent the drain hose from jumping out of the drain and flooding your laundry room (You do this with all drain hoses). In a pinch you could also use a long shoestring.

Precise HeatTM 1.5 Liter Electric Wtr Kettle

Precise Heat 1.6-quart (1.5-liter) electric kettle: No plastic touches water!
This is the electric kettle so many have been looking for -- absolutely zero plastic of any kind comes in contact with your water. My kettle arrived today, and I've put it through its paces in order to flush it out before beverage use (per instructions) and in order to time its speed. The maximum fill is marked on the exterior of the pot with an imprint in the steel; inside the pot there is a metal "tongue" (for want of a better description of it), which curves at the end with the word "MAX" stamped into it. The water should not go above the word MAX. A full pot (1.6 quart, 1.5 liter, 50.5 ounces) took exactly 9 minutes to reach a boil and turn itself off (red light goes off and switch clicks). I also ran a time test with one quart (which is virtually the same as one liter), and that took 6 minutes 20 seconds (this is how much water we use to fill our Frieling Ultima French Press, which is also all stainless steel).

Classy and functional style but metal gets VERY hot
This kettle is a nice blend of vintage style and modern function. It looks great sitting on my counter and works well so far.

It is ALL metal, except for the handle and the base; the interior is 100% metal, no plastic in sight. This is a big plus I imagine for those concerned about plastic kettles, but it does mean that the exterior and lid get VERY hot - you don't want to touch anything but the handle. In the case of the lid, this is a bit annoying, since it means you have to grab a pot holder or let it cool to open the lid to refill it. If the designers had made the lid handle the same material as the side handle, it'd be a five star product.

Overall, though, I'm happy with it. I use it for pourover coffee, and the shape of the spout makes for a nice smooth pour that's easy to control.

Shipping was a bit slow - it didn't ship for over a week.

Perfect so far
Really like this kettle so far. The best thing about it is the totally stainless steel interior--no plastic! It pours very well. The knob gets alittle hot if you have a very full pot. For green tea I have learned to listen for the pre-boil sound. Also gives some "bling" to my kitchen! Update: 2 years later...still works perfectly!

The edge of the lucite cover should be beveled to minimized chipping (it chips easily, but they are just cosmetic problems) otherwise 5 stars. The pot will stand up to cleaning and messy contents better that an all lucite chamber. The clear top still provides adequate viewing of the contents under vacuum.

George Foreman GRP4EWS Platinum Evolve Grill with 2 Grill Plates and 2 Waffle Plates

A VERY Nice Grill
I had it easy this Christmas. There would be no repeat of the "Margarita Machine Incident" from 2008. I had very clear instructions from my wife that she wanted a new Foreman Grill, and _only_ a new Foreman Grill. All that was left for me to do was pick the version.

I can't give a side by side comparison with other Foreman grills, other than to our earlier one, but I can go over what I think are some nifty features on this model:

1) A big surface area means Really Big Waffles. Having a waffle maker that puts out two large waffles is great for those times when two hungry kids think the next one off the grill should be theirs.

2) A sort of double-hinge at the back. I'm not sure the technical name, but it allows the back of the grill to adjust as well. This reduces the annoying "steak wedge effect" from the old grill, where the one bigger cut of meat would reduce the contact with the grill for the other cuts. It makes for more even grilling...

needs to be larger
The last George Foreman was the best I ever owned but this one is better except it needs to be larger... especially for the price! I paid $50 for the last one. This one cost more than double that amount and listed for $179. The advantage to this grill is that it has exact temperature control and a timer, however the accompanying cook book does not have complete instructions for which temperature to use for what. What is there is very hard to find. There should be an alphabetical index by type of food. I am sure a lot of George Foreman users are novice cooks such as myself. George should make it easier, not harder to use.

Easy to use - Easy to clean!
We read all the reviews and finally decided to go with this grill. This was supposed to be an upgrade and replacement for my older Foreman Grill and waffle maker. We are very pleased with our decision. The cooking surface is bigger than our old grill. We can cook 4 chicken breasts or burgers at the same time. Having the ease of removing the plates to clean is a great feature. I hated cleaning my old Foreman grill. I ultimately decided on this grill because of the timer and temp feature. I'm happy with my decision as they both work very well.

This Grill makes some of the best waffles I've ever had and it is easy to use. I use 1/2 cup of batter in each side. Be careful on using the recommended time and temp that the book states. We have found that we like our waffles cooked on a lower temp for a few minutes less. The first waffles we made were a bit crunchy. I usually just clean my plates in the sink and I've have yet to have anything stick to them. The nonstick surface works...

I received this unit free of charge because my old unit failed AND because I registered that purchase online at the Frigidaire website.

I originally purchased the Frigidaire 50-pint humidifier (Model FDF50S1) in June of 2009 [i.e. the 2009 version of this product] through Amazon.com. The unit worked perfectly for two years then stopped dehumidifying. The unit would power on, one could change the fan speed, but the unit would not dehumidify even though the unit was set to Continuous (CO) and a hyrgrometer showed the basement room to be at 49% humidity.

After contacting a local Frigidaire authorized repairer, I learned these units are considered "throwaway" meaning there are no serviceable parts (except the filter). The units are less expensive to replace than repair, so the manufacturer does not sell any replacement parts (except the filter). My 2009 system had a one year full warranty (long past) and a Years 2-5 "Sealed System" warranty (the...

FIRST REVIEW (2 stars):

1) The dehumidifier function seems to be quite effective. Our basement was really dank. After a few days, the difference is quite improved.

2) The machine does NOT drain into a hose. I tried all of the suggestions seen in other reviews without success. I was really hoping that I could drain directly into the sump pit, but that is not to be. The water does collect in the tank, so a trip to the basement is required every two days. Not the end of the world, but not as advertised either.

UPDATE - Frigidaire is sending me a modification to the dehumidifier. Per their email of today, "We are pleased to announce we now feature a kit that once installed should totally eliminate the drainage issue. We are mailing the kit along with installation instructions direct to your residence. Please allow 7-10 business days."

Works great, unless you want to use continuous draining
I use this in my finished basement, and it does an excellent job of keeping it dry. I used it when it was 98 and humid and it did its job. I had to empty it out about two times a day. When the temperature dropped to the 70s and humidity dropped, I emptied it out about once a day. I can be away from my house a couple days at a time, so I hooked up a hose. Initially, it did not drain out of the hose, but instead continued to drain into the bucket. I took off the rear two wheels so it tips back a bit, now it drains through the hose.

If you are considering purchasing this, I would look elsewhere to a product that was designed correctly instead of needing to make an adjustment. If you already purchased this, want to use continuous draining, but do not want to return it, either put some cardboard at the front of the dehumdifier, or take off the rear wheels so it will drain from the hose instead of into the bucket. Hopefully there are no other design errors with this product,...

Lasko 5840 Cyclonic Room Heater with Remote Control

Not Bad.
Grabbed this for $69 at Sams club. The cord and plug get a bit warm but every heater I have had does the same. I have some Tower Heaters which I love so thought I would check out this one.

Not bad at all. What I like is that it can be placed right on the wall and fits just about anywhere. The Towers are great and I use the heck out of them, but I have accidentaly knocked them over, killing them. In fact, I have done that twice so now I know to keep the towers in certain areas where they cant get knocked down.

This unit fits anywhere. It does not oscilate like the towers but does have the leavour(sp?) design which allows you to direct air in a wide range up to down. It has a wide outlet and combined with the directional airflow, it works great.

The Ionizer is a plus. None of my towers have them and they do work so nice to have that feature. The remote is easy to use, as are the remotes on the towers.

A good Heater
I purchased this heater after my apartment failed to repair our heating after 2 months of complaining. I wanted a nice heater that could keep the apartment hot without breaking after being on for a few hours. This one has met my expectations in every way.

I live in a 720 square foot apartment consisting of 1 bedroom, 1 bath, and 1 living room/kitchen area. When the whether hit -8 degrees F, this heater was not able to heat the entire apartment. After closing the bathroom and bedroom, it was able to get the living room back up to 70 degrees though within a couple of hours (from 55 degrees).

In better whether (like 30 degrees F), It can keep the temperature up as well, for the entire 720 square feet. But that is usually only if it works constantly, with only an occasional break (if you are using the auto) every hour or so.

I would not have survived this crazy winter this year without this device. I use it in congruence with a cheap heater the apartments...

Great On The Go Heat!
One's individual thermostat varies from person to person. With this unit one can cater their own comfort level to their own liking. Why heat rooms where there not being used. It's so whisper quiet. A regular gas furnace is so expensive and noisy to operate. I haven't gotten the electic bill yet so as a cost saving measure is yet to be determined. The portability factor is fantastic, so light one can carry it room to room. The ionic feature is a definite added plus. I wish I had purchased this type of unit years ago. So far, the temp on the unit has not gotten over seventy two degrees, which is perfect. The settings do allow a ninety degree setting, however anything to toasty could be cause it to overheat. One can set the timer for one hour or more, which helps as a cost saving measure. It's really nice to set the timer and drift off to sleep. Just ideal for a bedroom/bathroom size. With a living room size, it has to run more than four hours to warm up the area. People have ingrained...

Vornado Air Purifier Carbon Pre-Filters (2-pack)

Works Fine in Vornado AC300 Air Purifier
I bought these to have on hand for my new air purifier. Price was right for the Vornado brand name however I will be looking in the future to see if I can get better deal or off brand replacement filters. Thus the 4 stars instead of 5.......price. For anyone not wanting to risk an off brand filter I recommend getting these as you won't have any problem with proper fit & function.

Not a Vornado filter
These are generic filters. They are not Vornado filters and are square, rather than rectangular. They do not fit the ac300 model. When I returned the filters I ordered, I was refunded the amount I initially paid, but not the amount I paid to send back the filters. So, I spent about 2 bucks to find out that this product is mislabeled.

Dyson DC24 Animal, DC24 Multi-Floor The Ball Filter Kit - Includes Washable (919777-02) and HEPA Filters (919777-02) Generic

Filters look like they fit but cause vacuum to make a weird noise when using
I needed to replace both filters on my Dyson DC24. I found this product and thought I would try it out, since it is about 2/3 the price of the filters on the Dyson website, plus I get free shipping with Amazon.

The filters look ever-so-slightly different than the old filters I removed from my vacuum. For the most part, they look like they are the correct filters and seem to be made of the same quality as the original Dyson filters I was replacing. The seem to fit into the vacuum ok, although the top filter is a bit thicker rubber than the original Dyson version.

However when I tried vacuuming with these filters, the rolling ball part of the vacuum would roll forward okay, and seem to get stuck rolling back, making a weird popping sound every time I pulled the vacuum backwards. I can't tell what is causing the sound, but putting the original filters back into my vacuum caused the noise to stop. I will be purchasing Dyson brand filters for my vacuum now, at least...

These fir the dyson and don't cost an arm and a leg. They have the same filter material and plastic molding as the original.

bottom filter is fine; top filter is too small
I have a DC24 Animal, and the top filter does not fit the canister. The bottom filter, that goes into the ball part, is fine...and that's the part I really needed anyway. But I wish I hadn't bought the package deal, as it's useless to me.

Generic Shark Steam Mop 2 Pack of Steam Cleaning Pads for Model S3101 Series

BAIT & SWITCH, this is a knockoff, NOT ORIGINAL SHARK REPLACEMENT...
Despite the description stating this is an ORIGINAL, it is a generic knockoff. I have the S3101 Shark steam mop, and bought this product that states it is the original replacement pad by Shark, and it is clearly not. It is not even made of the same material. The genuine Shark replacements are 100% Polyester, and this is a 70/30 blend. It is also not the right size. While it will work, the grips do not line up properly, though you can get it on and working. It is also about an inch shorter. I went to a retail store to pick up the actual genuine/original replacement pads made by shark, to verify what I got was a knockoff, just in case since I purchased the mop the replacement pads had changed. They have not. I contacted the seller but got nowhere. They'll work, but I was really disappointed because I would have not bought them except for the misleading description stating they are originals. Amazon should really force the seller to disclose these are knockoffs.

These work great with the Shark steam mop. I bought them as a second set, as I use the steam mop everyday, and needed some more pads.

I have owned this iron since Christmas and use it constantly. Besides having to iron my own clothes I am a sewer/quilter. This iron heats up super fast and as advertised, it doesn't spit or leak. Steam doesn't depend on the heat of the sole plate as there is a second heating element just for the steam, and let me tell you it gets HOT! And because the steam has its own heating element, this function is available at the iron's lowest temperature setting. I don't thing that's something most irons can claim. Since I was introduced to Reliable last summer, my Velocity iron has proven to be a work horse. I actually love to iron and being a quilter, it gets used daily. I thought NO WAY could you improve on a classic....

I crumpled up a fat quarter of 100% quilted cotton, and within a minute, the wrinkles vanished. It is still heavy, ( which I love) and it glides like butter across a hot pan.
I love that it has a large reservoir, pretty cool, or actually HOT.

It's over in 3 months
I bought this iron in March. It had a few glitches in design that bugged me - like how the steam buttons are easily hit when ironing - but the steam was great. While it lasted. I use the iron almost daily for quilting and garment construction. This morning I was all ready to get busy sewing, turned on the iron and the fireworks started! The lights flickered and the water came spitting out of the soleplate like nobody's business. I guess the tank must have burst or an electrical problem. This is the most I have ever spent on an iron and the shortest time for it to work. I think it's back to basics.

Hoover S1120 Hand Held Wet/Dry Hand Vacuum Cleaner

Good quality handvac for the money
This handvac did okay for me, which was to help me clean up cat litter and dust off our hardwood floor.

Its quite loud when use, but its probably make the same noise as other handvac. The exhaust is located on the side, which is nice so you don't get hot air blow to ur face. The clear, plastic tip is also use as the collection cup for the debris, which can be un-clip and empty over the garbage. It also comes with a wall-mounted holder which can be put together with the charger, so each time you put away the vac it automatically charges the battery.

The thing I don't like about the vac was the vac mouth only opened in the middle and not side-to-side, which means it only pick up things when its at the middle of the tip. So you really have to aim for them to get it off the floor. The power button must be pressed continously during use, also no indicator light to show you whether its charging or not.

Short life span makes this a disposable vacuum
This vacuum is the reason I am currently browsing Amazon in search of a great cordless vacuum!

I owned this for about a year when I started noticing that shortly after I turned it on, the power would gradually decrease until it was barely operating. The culprit was a dying battery.

I was informed, however, by my friendly vacuum dealer that the replacement battery for this vacuum costs nearly as much as the entire vacuum. So...my vacuum ended up in the recycling bin.

Besides the short battery life I experienced, I found this vacuum to have an especially irritating design: it has vents on the side of the motor box that blow air out. If you are trying to pick up pet hair from the floor, this can create a real challenge, if not an impossible task. I would have to sneak up on the hair most times to try to avoid the air flow blowing it away.

Hoover Rules the Hand Vacs
I've had a Hoover Wet-Dry hand held vac for years, but the new one is truly a little power house. Cleans up the worst messes in seconds, and takes to a good cleaning in the dishwasher (non power parts, of course) with no problem. I wouldn't buy anything else.

Miele S8590 Marin Canister Vacuum + SEB 217

It's a winner!
At long last, I finally found a truly wonderful vacuum. It's really worth the money. The time, frustration and money I've spent on lame vacuums make the cost of this one worth it to me.

I had 2 Dyson uprights, that were ok for basic carpet, but were to bulky to get under much. They were terrible, I thought, on hard wood floors. The last new Dyson I had put a big scratch on my Brazilian cherry floors! Every time I wanted to use the Dyson, I'd have to go outside to empty the dirt bin. I liked the idea of not needing to buy bags, but it's really messy to dump out and dust goes everywhere. Plus, it had to be emptied all the time. The Dyson attachments are cumbersome to set up and use. The Dyson vacuums I had were very loud and heavy too.

I even tried a Robo vacuum for in between floor cleanings and found that it was too loud, plus it ripped fringe off my expensive imported heirloom rug. It would get stuck and make very loud announcements that would wake up my baby. I...

Well disigned and powerfull
Miele S8590 is a perfect vacuum for our home with some carpet and some hardwood floors. It is a very powerful vacuum, yet light to carry it up and down, easy to operate in small places and under beds. Very satisfied with the choice.

This is by far the easiest and nicest vacuum cleaners I have ever had. It makes doing housework much quicker and enjoyable!
