Best roof cap for installing a dryer vent or bathroom vent that exhausts to the roof
Product is made to last and is easy to install. It is painted black and has a low profile so that it not noticable when installed on your roof. The damper works well and opens and closes without binding. You will need a drill with drill bit, roofing knife for cutting shingles, a 4.25" hole saw or reciprocating saw, a hammer, roofing nails, and roofing tar to install. If you are uncomfortable with heights or you do not have the proper ladder, leave this job for the professionals.
Well design & Nicely Built
If you buy the Broan roof vent, you HAVE to buy the Broan collar. The better course, which I did for my second vent, is to buy the Broan kit, which includes the roof vent AND the collar, along with flexible ducting that you can use or not. The kit is cheaper than the vent and collar individually.
Important - you MUST buy the Broan DC4 4" Duct Collar if you are using flexible ducting.
One thing that reviewer R.Fisk and reviewer ViennaPMS found out is that for any sort of flexible ducting to be used with this product you MUST also have the Broan DC4 4" Duct Collar. Nothing else will work! There is absolutely no way to attach the flexible ducting to this product without the duct collar. Something that product information or product specification fails to mention.
So like ViennaPMS says just buy the Broan kit. Had to order the duct collar after I got my vent cap.
Give the product 5 stars for quality - not taking any points off for not making clear that the duct collar is needed for flexible ducting.
