Disappointed
I would give this product two stars. It's not all that "compact". It is very noisy so I can't sleep while it's running. In one of the pictures of the product, it looked like the vent hose came out of the top of the unit when it actually comes out the back. The price is now less than what I paid. Is it too late to return the unit??
Works for me
Hi there.
I have never been a fan of portable AC units because they are almost twice the price and half as powerful as their window counterparts. My apt building management wants a $75 extortion fee to put my window unit in the window. I don't like fees.
I saw this unit on sale for more than $100 less than Amazon (sorry Amazon but I DO buy lots from you too!) and gave it a shot. My studio is about 350 ft, maybe a bit more. Before AC I would sit here sweating it out. I have windows on 1 side of the apt and no cross breeze.
When I got this via UPS I had it unboxed hooked up to the window and turned on within 15 minutes. I tend to agree with the previous reviewer however this unit fits my purposes just fine. The unit is small enough to fit behind my desk chair. It's also next to my bed. And it faces the chair I use for TV viewing. Although it doesn't bring the place to ice cold temps I am no longer sweating it out. The immediate areas in front of where...
Does what it's supposed to do
I've had this unit for about a week now and really during a most oppressive heat wave. Temps climbing near 100 on one of the days. This unit kept my small home office cool no matter how hot it was outside.
Yes it is large and it does make noise. Unlike the other reviewer I did not find the noise to be disruptive to my sleep. I would compare the noise to white noise. Not offensive enough to bother me.
Now my office is small. About 9x9. I would not suggest this unit for a room any larger than that.
If I have one complaint, it is that the hot air outlet does not seal completely at the window. The adjustable piece that mounts to the window is narrower than the piece that it is attached to. Leaving a small gap between the window and the outlet.
